Chapter 13.20 PREVENTION OF CROSS CONNECTION TO THE WATER SYSTEM
Section 13.20.030 Consumer's responsibility--Installation, maintenance and testing of required services.
It shall be the responsibility of the water consumers of commercial and industrial
water
connections and consumers of new residential water connections, to purchase, install, test
and maintain backflow prevention devices/assembly where necessary and to control cross
connections. Commercial, industrial, and residential consumers subject to the provisions
of State regulations, the International Plumbing code and the Vernal City code shall have
certified inspections and operational tests made at least once a year at the consumer's own
expense. Irrigation backflow prevention devices and assemblies shall be tested annually
within ten (10) days after such device / assembly is installed or reinstalled. Where the
City deems a hazard to exist, any water consumer may be required to have such
inspections and tests completed at a more frequent interval and as determined by the City.
All such tests shall be made according to the standard set forth by the Utah State
Department of Health, Bureau of Drinking Water and Sanitation. (Ord. 91-02 § 3)
