The R-1 residential zone has been established primarily for one (1) family dwellings, plus certain complimentary uses such as parks and schools. This zone is characterized by spacious lots, uncrowded buildings and quiet residential conditions favorable to family life and the rearing of children. Apartment houses, boardinghouses and other multiple-family dwellings, as well as commercial and industrial uses, are not permitted in this zone. (PZSC § 03-18-001)
