The Treasurer shall keep all money belonging to the City separate and distinct from his own money, or any other money under his control. Whenever it shall appear to the Mayor that the Treasurer is making a profit out of public money, or using the same for any purpose not authorized by law, he shall suspend him from office, and upon conviction for such offense, his office shall become vacant.
