Chapter 2.84 URBAN FORESTRY
Section 2.84.020 Definitions
For the purpose of this Chapter, the following terms shall have the meaning
set forth in
this Section:
A. "City forester" means the person appointed
within the public works department to
administer this Chapter. The City forester shall additionally supervise the tree-trimming
crew of the public works department which shall, in general, provide staff to accomplish
the intent of this Chapter.
B. "City property" means all City owned and
managed parks, planting strips within
the streets right-of-way, and all other public property owned and managed by the City.
C. "Municipal Tree Board" means the board appointed
by the Mayor as set forth in
Chapter 2.82 with the approval and consent of the City Council.
D. "Maintenance" means those practices and
procedures for the normal care of trees
and shrubs as set forth in the regulations of the City.
E. "Person" includes a natural person, joint
venture, joint stock company, general or
limited partnership association, club, company, corporation, trust, organization, business
or any business entity or the manager, lessee, agent, servant, officer or employee of any of
them.
F. "Planting or parking strip" means that part
of the public street right-of-way set
aside as a planting strip or open space and located between the sidewalk and curb or edge
of the roadway, or where no sidewalk exists, located within the road right-of-way
adjacent to the edge of the roadway.
G. "Public right-of-way" means a portion of
property reserved for public use and
accepted as such by the City Council to provide for public utilities, cut and fill slopes and
open public spaces.
H. "Public tree or shrub" means a tree, shrub,
bush, or any other woody vegetation
which is situated in such a manner so that any part of the tree trunk, shrub, bush or any
woody vegetation base at ground level is on public property or public right-of-way.
