Chapter 2.84 URBAN FORESTRY
Section 2.84.060 Protection near construction activities.
A. Any tree on City property in the immediate vicinity
of any excavation,
demolition or construction site of any building, structure or street work, which in the city
forester's discretion has any potential for injury or damage shall be guarded with a
temporary fence, frame or box. Such a protective structure shall be not less than four feet
high and eight feet square, or at a distance in feet from the tree equal to two times the
diameter of the tree trunk in inches measured four and one-half feet above ground,
whichever is the greater distance from the tree. All building materials, vehicles, extra dirt
or other debris shall be kept outside the barrier.
B. Any costs associated with the disturbance and the return, replacement
and/or
restoration of any tree under the provisions of this Section, shall be borne by the party
responsible for such disturbance. Further, such person shall reimburse the City for any
actual damage caused by him, his subcontractor, or his independent contractor in
connection with the disturbance of such property.
