Chapter 3.25 9-1-1 EMERGENCY TELEPHONE SURCHARGE FEE
Section 3.25.010 9-1-1 Fee.
A. n53-10-601 through n53-10-606 UCA, as enacted by the
2004 Utah Legislature, n
69-2-5 UCA as amended by Chapter 253 Laws of Utah 2003, n 63-55-269 UCA, and n
69-2-5.6 UCA 1953, allows a public agency of a county, city, or town within which 9-1-1
emergency telephone service is provided to levy monthly an emergency services
telephone charge on:
1. Each local exchange service switched access line within the City; and
2. Each revenue producing radio
communications access line with a billing address
within the boundaries of the City to pay for the provision of 9-1-1 emergency telephone
service within the City's jurisdiction, and to pay the directly related cost of a 9-1-1
system.
B. Such levy, as provided herein, is imposed upon all
such described access lines
within Vernal City.
C. Such collected funds are used to operate and fund
the Uintah Basin Consolidated
Communications Center operations in Vernal, Uintah County, Utah.
D. 9-1-1 emergency telephone tax in the amount of sixty
five cents ($0.65) per month
shall be imposed on each local exchange access line, wireless communications access line
or other technical or radio device access line that under normal operation is designed to,
or routinely used to access 9-1-1, within Vernal City, Utah commencing on July 1, 2004.
