All license inspectors or collectors in the discharge and performance of their official duties, and all regular police officers, shall have and exercise the power to enter free of charge during business hours any place of business for which a license is required by this title and to demand the exhibition of a current license from any such person or persons engaged or employed in the transaction of such businesses. If such person or persons shall then and there fail to exhibit such license, such person or persons shall be liable to the penalty provided for a violation of this title. (Prior code § 11-01-006)
