Prior to the adoption of Ord. 2005-15 on 10/05/2005, Section 6.12.020 read as follows.

It is unlawful for any person to willfully or maliciously kill, maim, disfigure, torture, beat with a stick, chain or club or any other object, mutilate, burn or scald, overdrive or otherwise cruelly set upon any animal. Each offense shall constitute a separate violation. (CC § 08-10-016 (1))
