Section 6.12.100 Vicious animals.
Prior to the adoption of Ord. 2005-15 on 10/05/2005, Section 6.12.100 read as follows.
A. It is unlawful for the owner of any vicious animal
to permit such animal to go off
the premises of the owner unless such animal is under restraint and properly muzzled so
as to prevent it from injuring any person or animal. Every vicious animal that cannot be
controlled by reasonable restraints, and every vicious animal not effectively controlled by
its owner or person having charge, care or control of such animal so that it shall not injure
any person or property, is a hazard to public safety and the Animal Control Officer shall
seek a court order pursuant to Section 6.08.050 for destruction of the vicious animal.
B. If any animal bites or attacks a person or other animal
two (2) times or more in a
twelve (12) month period, such animal may be immediately impounded by the Animal
Control Officer and held at the owner's expense pending court action or disposed of as
provided in this title. (CC 08-10-024)
