Section 6.16.010 Licensing - requirements.

    A.    All dogs must be licensed each year, except as otherwise provided herein, to a person of the age of eighteen (18) years  or older.
    B.    Any person owning, possessing or harboring any dog shall obtain a license for such animal within thirty (30) days after the dog reaches the age of four (4) months; or in the case of a dog over four (4) months, within ten (10) working days of the acquisition of the dog.
    C.    License applications must be submitted annually to Vernal City utilizing a standard form which includes the name and address of the owner and the name and age of the dog. The application must be accompanied by a current rabies vaccination certificate and license fees. License fees shall be established by resolution adopted by the Vernal City Council.
    D.    No dog will be licensed as spayed or neutered without proof that surgery was performed.
    E.    The license shall be effective from the date of purchase through the end of December of the current year, after which the license must be renewed. Licenses for the following year may be purchased within ninety (90) days prior to their expiration date. Licenses not renewed within thirty (30) days following the expiration date shall carry an additional late fee as provided in the fee schedule established by the City Council.   (CC § 08-10-012)
